No fewer than 856,000 pregnant women and children under the age of five years will benefit from the new improved immunisation hygiene and renewed quality healthcare at the primary level in Cross River State, South-South Nigeria.
Governor Ben Ayade made this known Saturday, when he flagged-off the second round of the 2019 Maternal, Newborn and Child Health at Nasarawa Bakoko, a largely Hausa-Fulani Community in Calabar Municipality Area Council of the State.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Betta Edu, the Governor said the health week will feature routine immunisation against childhood killer diseases, administration of Vitamin A for children, deworming , screening for acute malnutrition in children with appropriate provisions of antenatal care and distribution of insecticide treated nets.
He enjoined the citizens to take advantage of the programme going on simultaneously in all the over 1,000 health centres across the State to know the health status of their children and themselves.
On their part, head of Hausa-Fulani Community in Calabar Municipality, Sanni Baba-Gombe and the representative of the women urged the Governor to do more for them in the area of advocacy.
Governor Ayade had during his new year message assured the citizens of healthy living irrespectives of their states of origin, tribes or religion inline with the health for all programme of his administration.
