The Cross River State Government in South-South Nigeria has restated its commitment to commence the export of goods and services produced locally in the state-owned industries, hence the need to partner with the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA.

The State Commissioner for Commerce, Rosemary Archibong, stated this when she led the Ministry’s management on a visit to NPA office in Calabar, the state capital.

The Commerce Commissioner said some of the over 20 factories established by the Governor Ben Ayade Administration are already operational while others are more than 90 percent completed, saying the State will soon be a net exporter in terms of outbound cargo.

On her part, the Manager, Nigerian Ports Authority Calabar, Marie Asein, said the port is coming alive gradually with the new incentives given to importers and exporters of goods to encourage patronage.

Calabar Port according to Cross River State Government is well positioned to have trade relations with all the west coast region of the African continent, hence the need to make it attractive to create employment opportunities for the people of the State before the completion of the state-owned deep seaport under construction.
