Cross River State Government says it will make a law that will give free treatment to all patients living with sickle cell in the State .
Wife of the Governor, Dr Linda Ayade represented by the Commissioner for Health, Betta Edu made this known during the 2020 sickle-Cell Celebrations in Calabar.
The Governor’s wife said when the law becomes operational,sickle cell carriers will benefit from free medications under the Ayade care health insurance scheme.
Reacting to the state government gesture, President of the sickle-Cell support Network, Deborah Ononokpono commended the state government forgiven them hope with the proposed law.

About two thousand persons living with sickle cell took part in the celebrations and for them, the theme for 2020 Celebrations “keeping hope alive: Sickle Cell Disease and Covid-19” was apt and reassuring in the midst of their pains.
