As part of efforts to curb the continuous upsurge of insecurity, especially kidnapping in Cross River State, the state police command has adopted fresh measures to tackle the upsurge among which is the dusk to dawn stop and search policing strategy.
The Commissioner of Police, Uche Anozie, while speaking with reporters, said the purpose of the exercise is to hunt down suspected criminals and enable lawful citizens in Cross River State, especially Calabar, to sleep with two eyes closed.
He explained that the strategy, which now moves all personnel of the command to the field for the stop and search exercise of vehicles within a radius of 50 meters apart, is beginning to yield results.
Some citizens and commuters who spoke with ait.live described the exercise as commendable.

The operations which start from 7 pm – 6 am daily, according to the police Commissioner, will be a continuous one until the situation improves.
