Cross River State has added one more school to its degree awarding institutions in Nursing Sciences to cater for the medical needs of not only the people of the State but others in South-South and South-East Nigeria.
This is the College of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences located in Itigidi in Abi Local Government Area that shares boundary with Ebonyi and Abia States which was recently upgraded to a degree awarding institution backed up with an enabling law.

Speaking during the maiden matriculation ceremony of the College of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences, wife of the Governor, Dr. Linda Ayade, joined by the State Commissioner for Health, Betta Edu said the newly approved health institution will focus on building human capacity in Nursing and other Medical Sciences.
On his part, Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Eteng Williams said with the law passed by the House of Assembly which led to the face-lifting of its facilities, the institution is ready to fly higher in the years ahead.
The National Board for Technical Education recently granted accreditation for National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Nursing to the School as the first College of Nursing and Midwifery Sciences within the South-South geopolitical zone.
