Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara has expressed grave concerns over increasing cases of cultism in primary and secondary schools

He warns that unless something urgent is done to reverse the disturbing trend, the future of the state might be in jeopardy.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Government Comprehensive Secondary School Borokiri in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara announced that henceforth, any student or school official found to be associated with cultism will summarily be dismissed and prosecuted.

Established with the support of the American Government in 1961, the once famous school which, has produced many prominent Rivers sons became a shadow of its glorious past as the infrastructure and learning environment fell into a state of neglect and disrepair

Squatters and land grabbers also took advantage of the situation to take over a large part of the school’s land.

The school’s rehabilitation finally commenced during the last days of the Wike administration.

The Sim Fubara led government of Consolidation and Continuity also decided to see to its completion

The old students, who include the 19th President of the Nigerian Bar Association Onueze Chukwujinka Okocha, are grateful to the Rivers State government for giving them a legacy project.

Moving to other more serious issues, Governor Sim Fubara is using the occasion to raise alarm about the rising cases of cultism, especially in primary and secondary schools.

He warns that unless something urgent is done to reverse the ugly trend, the future of the state might just be in jeopardy.

Sim Fubara also reiterates his commitment to build a better, safe, and secured Rivers State.
