The Bayelsa State owned security outfit codenamed “operation Doo Akpo” has been relaunched to support and collaborate with other security apparatus in efforts to rid the state of criminals.

The security outfit is now recognised by the law of the state through signing into law the community safety corps bill, 2021.

Governor Douye Diri warned criminal elements to henceforth steer clear of the state.

The signing into law of the Community Safety Corps Bill to streamline operations of the state security outfits, preceded the relaunch of “Operation Doo-Akpo” by Governor Douye Diri with 50 operational vehicles, 40 motorbikes and security gadgets.

With Operation Doo-Akpo being recognised by the law of the state through the Community safety Corps Act, the Governor believes the security outfit will be much more effective in curbing crimes.

To Governor Diri, the relaunch was apt and appropriate given that the Yuletide season was here. He therefore read the riot act to criminals in the state.

Operation Doo Akpo was established in 2012 by the immediate past administration to curb criminal activities and it is expected that with the relaunch, citizens will now go to bed with their eyes closed particularly during the festive season.
