Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has described the Naira currency note redesign as an exercise that will come with numerous economic benefits in the future calling on Nigerians to show understanding with the government.
In a statement released on his verified twitter handle, Obi who said the policy is not peculiar to Nigeria alone, explained that “the exercise comes with some inconvenience and pain but it has significant long-term economic and social benefits”.

Obi appealed to Nigerians to bear with the Central Bank of Nigeria and Federal Government with the hope that the general populace and Nigeria will harvest the gains that will come with the reforms.
He however asked the CBN and the banks to expedite efforts to make the new currency available to small depositors and the unbanked in order to reduce the pains on Nigerians especially the underprivileged and those living far away from banks in the rural areas.
