The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa says stronger civil-military cooperation, vigilance and security consciousness are critical to Nigeria’s national security architecture.
The Minister stated this at a town hall meeting with staff of the Federal Ministry of Defence in Abuja where he stressed the need for civilian employees and members of the Armed Forces to work together in unity, mutual respect and a shared sense of responsibility.
The Federal Ministry of Defence is a combination of both civilians and military personnel working together towards achieving better planning to address the security challenges facing the country.
The Minister, General Christopher Musa (Retd.) said effective collaboration between civilian and military personnel is essential to strengthening Nigeria’s defence and security framework.
Other speakers at the meeting urged the Minister to prioritise an effective internal communication strategy to promote discipline, unity and collective responsibility in delivering the Ministry’s mandate.
The meeting was attended by directors, heads of departments and units, staff across various cadres, as well as media representatives.
The Minister also urged personnel to promptly report suspicious activities and remain vigilant against potential security threats, adopting the mantra: “See something, say something.”
