The Police in Delta State have commenced Operation Velvet across the 25 Local Government Areas of the State.
Flagging off the exercise in Asaba, the State capital on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Erale, said the operation is aimed at strengthening compliance with vehicle and traffic regulations.
According to the Delta State Police Chief, Operation Velvet targets vehicles without valid documents, defaced number plates and those unregistered.
While soliciting the cooperation of motorists, CP Erale assured the public that enforcement will be conducted professionally.
AIT online correspondent reports that just as the exercise took off, about ten vehicles which computed traffic violations in Asaba, were taken to the mobile Court for judicial processes.
