Some residents in Delta State are expressing serious concerns over the growing level of insecurity in parts of the State.

Those who shared their views with ait.live are suggesting community policing as an effective approach in reducing the crime rate.

The rising cases of cultism among teenagers and youths, the spate of kidnapping, brutal attacks by herdsmen, and the senseless killings of individuals and uniformed personnel are ugly situations that have left fears in the minds of many.

Although the state police command in its usual press statements, highlighted the successes it has recorded in the fight against criminality, Delta residents believe that community policing is a better approach to fighting crime.

While security is seen as everyone’s business, there is also the belief that the government still has a key role to play in securing lives and property.
