The Delta State government has told the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to work towards achieving electronic transmission of results from polling units during elections in 2023 and beyond.

Aniagwu said if INEC could electronically verify permanent voters cardholders, electronic transmission of election results shouldn’t be a problem.

He said it was clear that the majority of Nigerians firmly support the transmission of election results electronically and pleaded with the electoral umpire to be resolute in their resolve to conduct elections that will meet international standards by promoting transparency and integrity of the country’s electoral process.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner said he was on an advocacy visit and to also thank the Governor for his approval for the use of the state media outfits to sensitize the electorate on key electoral issues.

He said persons having problems with their cards and those that need to transfer their voting points to utilise the opportunity presented by the continuous voter registration exercise while the Commission adding that the Commission has created  2,239 polling units in delta state bringing the total number to 5,836.
