In the countdown to the 21st National Sports Festival Asaba 2022, the Delta State Sports Commission says the Games slated to begin on Thursday, November 30 will still hold as planned.
Chairman of the Commission and Chairman Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Tonobok Okowa who made this known during a media briefing at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba dispelled the rumour that the games may have been postponed. H maintained that the opening and closing dates for the Games remained sacrosanct.

According to Tonobok, all the facilities needed for the Games are ready except for cleaning of the environment which will be perfected within the next two to three days.
As it is, the Torch of Unity is also expected to arrive at Delta State on Wednesday, November 29 for an onward tour of the 25 local government areas of the state.
