Delta State government has said it was making efforts to leverage on Federal Government’s new National Policy on Education by engaging policymakers in the education sector to master the document.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Patrick Ukah made this known in Asaba, the state capital, while declaring open the Delta State Curriculum Strategies and Implementation for policymakers’ workshop for Delta North senatorial zone.
The first phase of the training was targeted at the policymakers in the education sector comprising the directors, chief inspector of educations, local authority secretaries, state Universal Basic Education Board, and post-primary education zonal director.

The training was to acquaint them with the curriculum that have been reviewed and the scheme of work for proper monitoring and supervision of schools.
The training was also to enhance the ability of teachers to deliver instructions as well as the ability of the students to learn.
Ukah said the workshop is an offshoot of the curriculum revision and the development of schemes of work of 2020 put together by few selected professionals.
He reminded the participants that as policymakers, it is their responsibility to make judicious use of knowledge of the workshop for effective curriculum implementation.
