The Defence Headquarters said it has noticed with dismay the habit of wearing military uniforms by some politicians for electioneering campaign posters.

The Acting Director Defence Information noted that such practice is illegal and an abuse of the privilege of allowing civilians wear military uniforms during military training exercises.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria as a professional institution, remains apolitical and would not want to be dragged into any form of political bias.

The statement advised politicians to desist from the use of military uniforms and for political events and other engagements, stressing that anyone found culpable would be liable to prosecution.
