Following the kidnapping of 20 members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, along the Owerri-Onitsha Highway by gunmen, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has deployed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG in charge of Operations, Umar Nadada, to Imo State, South-East Nigeria.

Nadada is expected to coordinate security efforts aimed at securing the safe rescue of the kidnapped corps members.

The security team examined the terrain and reviewed the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping of the 20 NYSC members, who are still being held captive.

Imo State Commissioner of Police, Audu Bosso, briefed the DIG on the developments surrounding the incident and the ongoing efforts to locate and rescue the victims.
