A fresh face-off between commercial drivers and the Delta state government has begun to brew following the state government’s reintroduction of additional operational tickets for all commercial drivers operating within the state and interstate routes.
The development which appears to be aimed at boosting the internally generated revenue of the state has been described as multiple extortion amid wide scale hardship plaguing the country.

These commercial drivers who are yet to account for daily profits in their commuting business given the scarcity of PMS and low patronage from commuters seem not to expect additional predicaments to their struggle.
The state government’s double taxation for them will likely halt economic activities in the state.
AIT spoke to the state government Agency responsible in handling issues pertaining to transportation and revenue generation.
While it remains a fact that internally generated revenue is crucial to the development of a state, these commercial drivers hope the Okowa led government will pay attention to their plight by rescinding the double taxation policy.
