Niger State Government has warned public infrastructural vandals that anyone found vandalising Government property will be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.
The Deputy Director, Civil, Niger State Ministry of Works, Muhammad Madami gave the warning when the Department of State Services, DSS, arrested and paraded 17 suspected vandals of the interlocking tiles at the Command Office, Minna.
In a statement by the chief press secretary to the governor, Bologi Ibrahim, the arrests of the suspects were carried out with the collaboration of the DSS and the State Government saying that the government will not fold its arms and watch people vandalize its property.
Madami further disclosed that the suspects will be thoroughly investigated by the DSS and will be handed over to the appropriate authority for further action.
The Deputy Director also stated that efforts are on to fish out more suspects.
Exhibits recovered from the suspects include two big lorries containing sharp sand, three pickup trucks ladened with interlocking tiles, one Bus, and two tricycles all loaded with interlocking tiles with other items including shovels, wheelbarrows, and hoes.
