Ease of doing business: Katsina state target first position in Nigeria

Katsina State government has taken steps to sustain the feat of being one of the best in the ease of doing business in Nigeria.

It is also making efforts to take the number one position, having been presently ranked fourth in the country by the World Bank.

To achieve this, the state government has inaugurated the state’s Standing Committee on Ease of Doing Business.

Inaugurating the Katsina State Standing Committee on Ease of Doing Business, on behalf of Governor Aminu Masari, the Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Committee, Mannir Yakubu on Wednesday said the committee will serve as a coordinating and policy-making body for the state on Ease of Doing Business.

According to him, the committee has among other terms of references, to review the steps to be taken to register businesses, obtain construction permits, register properties and enforce contracts.

The Director-General of the Katsina State Investment Promotion Agency, Ibrahim Jikamshi said the overall objective and aim of setting up the committee is to address the hindrances facing businesses in the state.

During the inauguration, the Special Adviser to President Buhari on Ease of Doing Business, Jumoke Oduwole, and the Director-General of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, Yewande Sadiku, joined the ceremony virtually.

They unanimously reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment towards lifting 10 million most vulnerable Nigerians out of poverty.
