Easter celebration: Kogi Gov. Yahaya Bello enjoins Nigerians to emulate Christ

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has enjoined Nigerians to use the significance of Easter as a moment of reflection, sacrifice, and renewed vigour for a better and prosperous Nigeria; adding that its expedient for leaders and citizens to begin to place a premium on national interest as against individual aspirations.

Governor Bello made this known in a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Muhammed Onogwu directed at citizens of Kogi State especially those of the Christian faith.

He said the lesson of Easter as exemplified by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ who laid down his life for the salvation of mankind should be a template for human existence hinge on sacrifice and love.

Bello stressed that such Godly attributes should be emulated by leaders and citizens alike.

The Governor added that the important message of Easter was love for mankind, and that his virtues should drive citizens towards national integration and harmony among various religions and ethnic sections in the country.

He mentioned that Kogi State under his watch was more united than ever before and has created an atmosphere of equity, fairness and justice where every religion was mutually respected noting that with such in place any society would thrive in all spheres.

While he assured citizens of a peaceful Easter celebrations, he reiterated government continuous efforts towards a secured and peaceful state.

He said it has become imperative to ensure citizens were safe even as he emphasized his government’s relentless commitment to push for a more unified State where everyone sees himself first in the spirit of humanity and love.

Governor Bello urged Christians as well as other Nigerians to use the occasion of this blessed period to pray for the peace and progress of Nigeria.
