The Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, has thrown his weight behind the appointment of Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, as the Chairman of the National Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, saying it is legal and in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution.
Governor Umahi was reacting to the controversy over the legality of Governor Buni’s leadership of the APC caretaker committee, called to question last Wednesday following a Supreme Court judgment on the 2020 Ondo State Governorship Elections.

Welcoming the ward committee members who are to supervise Saturday APC’s ward congresses in the state, Governor Umahi, though not a lawyer, insisted that the APC’S Constitution makes provision for the National Executive Committee to appoint a caretaker committee where the vacancy exists, as those appointed, remain caretakers and not power-wielding Executives.
On Saturday’s ward congress in the state, Umahi warns party members against conducting parallel elections.
