Edo State House of Assembly has announced an indefinite suspension of three lawmakers, one from the All Progressives Congress, APC, and two from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, over an alleged plot to effect a change of leadership in the house through impeachment.

The announcement was made by the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku at Monday’s plenary in Benin City.

May 6, 2024 sitting for the Edo State House of Assembly began on a rather chaotic note as Speaker of the House, Blessing Agbebaku revealed an alleged plot to effect a change in the leadership of the house.

The Speaker goes further to claim that certain lawmakers brought spiritualists into the Anthony Enahoro Complex of the Assembly and dropped fetish items within the premises.

Thereafter, he announced an indefinite suspension of three legislators; two from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and one from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This did not go down well with the affected members who protested against the announcement.

The ensuing commotion led to an abrupt adjournment of plenary.
