The Edo State Government says men of the Nigerian Army successfully repelled some persons alleged to be members of the main opposition party in the state from attacking and taking over the Oredo Local Government Collation Centre ahead of Saturday’s off cycle governorship election in the state.
State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, and the Special Adviser to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, claim that the Army had to step in when the suspected APC loyalists attempted to take over the collation centre.
The duo who want the same act replicated in areas that are targets and critical to the election also urged residents not to feel intimidated as the exercise will be conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.
Voters in Edo state on Saturday will elect a successor to governor Godwin Obaseki who leaves office on November 12, 2024.
