Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, his deputy Philip Shaibu and some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP said in the principle of fairness and equity, the South-South geo-political zone must be allowed to produce the country’s next President in 2023.

Obaseki and Shaibu made this call while speaking at a luncheon organised in Benin City for the PDP National Vice Chairman, South-South, Dan Orbih.

They appealed to Orbih to use his position to ensure that the next President of Nigeria come 2023 is from the South-South zone.

Other PDP chieftains present also threw their weights behind the position of the Governor and his Deputy on the zoning formula of the party ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Meanwhile, Orbih has appealed to the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to stop playing politics with the development of the Niger Delta region of the country.

Orbih who was honoured on his elevation as the leader of the PDP in the region says NDDC today is an institution of fraud and scandals to the detriment of the people because of the failure of the present administration to constitute a substantive board for the Commission.
