Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu, has congratulated the Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, on his victory at the Supreme Court, which further affirmed his election as the duly elected Governor of Edo State.

He said the court victory is a confirmation of his victory at the polls, where the good people of Edo State overwhelmingly voted for him as their Governor.

“A victory that the Governorship Election Tribunal, the Court of Appeal and now the Supreme Court have stamped their judicial authorities on”.

Governor Aliyu described the Supreme Court’s judgment as a victory not only for the people of Edo State, but for democracy in Nigeria as a whole.

He said the dismissal of Ighodalo’s appeal by the apex court, for lacking merit, demonstrates to the world that the Nigerian judiciary is truly independent and committed to upholding justice.

“On behalf of the good people of Sokoto State, I congratulate my colleague and brother, Governor Monday Okpebholo, on this well-deserved victory,” Governor Aliyu said.

“This is a victory for the entire APC family and for all well-meaning Nigerians,” he added.

Governor Aliyu urged Governor Okpebholo to remain focused on delivering the dividends of democracy to all corners of Edo State.

He wished him a rewarding and successful tenure in office.
