Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has announced a debate for the governorship candidates in Edo governorship election, scheduled to hold on September 15, 2024.
Chairman of the NUJ Election debate committee, and Head of Centre, DAAR Communications Plc, Olabisi Akpaida made the announcement at a Press Conference at the Edo NUJ Secretariat in Benin City.
Chairman of the debate committee, who is the Head of Benin Centre, DAAR Communications, Olabisi Akpaida, in a press briefing says only four of the seventeen candidates have been chosen to participate in the election debate, after an online voting poll.
The Edo NUJ chairman, Festus Alenkhe added that the debate is an opportunity to quiz the candidates on their plans for the state. He assures of adequate security and fairness during the debate.
The council is partnering with the Broadcast Organisation of Nigeria, BON and the Nigeria Election Debate Group, NEDG.
The Edo NUJ election debate is expected to air live on various television stations and other online media platforms.
