Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has assented to a revised 2020 budget of one hundred and twenty-eight point eight billion naira from the initial one hundred and seventy-nine billion naira.
Signing the budget into law in Government House, Benin City, Governor Obaseki noted that the reduction is due to the prevailing economic challenges caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Nearly all countries are affected by the Coronavirus pandemic and are adjusting to the new reality.
The various heads are seeking out ingenious means of coping with the pandemic and its adverse effect on governance.

Budgets are being slashed to reflect the current reality and Edo State is not left behind as the budget for the 2020 fiscal year has been reviewed downwards by thirty per cent.
Governor Obaseki says the virus has also had a huge impact on the healthcare system but sees it as an avenue to further boost the sector.
He expressed hope that at the end of the pandemic, all sectors of the state’s economy will be stronger and better.
