The Edo State Government has described the All Progressives Congress’ sweeping victory in last Saturday’s local government elections as a reflection of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s developmental strides and inclusive style of governance.
The position was made known during a joint media briefing by four senior government officials, who highlighted the achievements, policies, and programmes of the present administration.
Convener of the monthly joint briefing and Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kassim Afegbua, opened the session by attributing the APC’s overwhelming victory in the local government elections to the growing public confidence in Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration.
Recall that the APC won all 18 chairmanship seats and all 192 councillorship positions across the state.
The Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Nosa Adams, also highlighted key achievements and ongoing initiatives of the state government in the environmental sector, outlining measures aimed at improving sanitation and promoting sustainable development.
The Managing Director of the Edo State Waste Management Board, Lucky Enehita-Inegbenehi, and his counterpart at the Edo State Parks and Gardens Agency, Stanley-Dave Ighodaro, outlined their agencies’ efforts to beautify public spaces and maintain green areas across the state as part of the government’s urban renewal agenda.
The four senior government officials also responded to questions from journalists, providing further clarification on the administration’s policies and programmes.
