Edo State Government has congratulated Kamaru Usman who successfully defended his welterweight title against his American challenger, Colby Covington last Sunday.
The thirty- four -year old Edo born Usman knocked down his challenger twice in the second round of the title fight which took place at the Madison Square Garden, New York, United States of America.
In a congratulatory message, a letter was sent from the office of the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu and he acknowledged the reigning UFC welterweight champion as a shining star and a true reflection of what the Nigerian youth should represent.

The letter described Kamaru Usman as a true role model and urged youths to emulate him by bringing glory and honour to the nation rather than engage in cyber crime, drugs and other vices.
The State Government also commended Usman for keeping his promise to give back to the society by being a positive example to the younger generation and says that the state is ready to receive the welterweight champion whenever he is in the country.
The Government note that he is a true patriot and Edo Ambassador of sports that Nigerians are proud of.
