Edo State government has unveiled a 2026 policy framework to tackle technology-facilitated gender-based violence and strengthen digital safety for women, girls and other vulnerable groups.

The policy was unveiled by the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edesili Anani, at the Government House, Benin city.

The government says the policy is a response to growing online abuse, including cyberbullying, harassment, threats and sexual exploitation.

Stakeholders at the event called for stronger collaboration among government agencies, civil society organisations and other relevant bodies to prevent and respond to digital violence, stressing the need for coordinated action to make Edo’s digital space safer for women and vulnerable groups.

The technology – Facilitated gender based policy 2026 is part of measures to discourage all forms of digital devices facilitated gender based violence in the State.
