The seven man impeachment panel set up by Edo State Chief Judge, Daniel Okungbowa to investigate allegations of perjury and divulgence of official secrets against Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu has commenced sitting in Benin City.
At Wednesday’s sitting which held in the premises of the State High Court, lead counsel to the Deputy Governor, Professor Oladoyin Awoyale, SAN, objected to continuation of the investigation claiming to have a subsisting order of interlocutory injunction from an Abuja Federal High Court which adjourned hearing to April 8, 2024.

He proceeded to excuse himself and his team from the proceedings as the impeachment panel which did not allow video recording of the proceedings went ahead with its investigation.
Chairman of the panel, retired Justice S.A Omonua who noted that the court only asked parties to come and show cause adjourned sitting to April 4, 2024.
