Edo Police Parade Fake Herbalists For Fraud

Two men who posed as traditional herbalists are in the custody of the Edo State police command for fraudulently obtaining huge amount of money from two women.

The suspects and one other arrested for cultism and kidnapping were paraded at the command headquarters.

Thirty-eight year old Oluwaseun Ojo and Twenty-eight year old Lukman Ganiyu were arrested on the second of February at Upper Ekenwan road igbighokho after two women reported that they scammed them of almost a million naira while they sought spiritual help for their failing businesses and marital issues.

The police public relations officer Chidi Nwabuzor who paraded them at the command’s headquarters with items of their trade including a fake shrine warned citizens of the state to be wary of fake herbalists and other unscrupulous elements posing as spiritualists not only because of the risk of losing their money but also their lives.

The prime suspect and owner of the house Oluwaseun Ojo in his narration of the crime levelled against him, admitted to have fraudulently obtained the said amount from the women while the other suspect denied complicit in the crime of fraud perpetrated on innocent victims by his friend.

According to the police image maker, the operatives received information that the suspect and others at large operating in an unregistered white corolla car kidnapped a man along Atani Uromi road in Edo state and while efforts were being made to rescue the victim, the suspects and his gang started chanting the slogan of a cult group.

He said items recovered from the suspect included two battle axe and a gun.

The police image maker has however assured that the suspects will be charged to court to face the full weight of the crime committed.
