Edo State Government says reforms in land administration, driven by digitization has improved efficiency and transparency, with the processing of Certificates of Occupancy now completed within 30 days.

The Managing Director of the Edo State Geographic Information Service (EdoGIS) Innocent Bello disclosed this at the August 2026 joint monthly briefing organised by the State Ministry of Information and Strategy to highlight the achievements of the Monday Okpebholo administration.

The August joint briefing featured the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Eugenia Abdallah and the Managing Director of Edo state Geographic Information Service (EdoGIS), Innocent Bello.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy and convener of the briefing, Kassim Afegbua, reiterated the ban on the use of motorcycles within Benin City.

Afegbua said the restriction is part of measures to address prevailing security concerns in the state.

The Edo GIS Managing Director, Innocent Bello, highlighted key reforms in land administration, saying the digitization of the process has improved transparency, efficiency and service delivery.

He said the processing of Certificates of Occupancy can now be completed seamlessly within 30 days, provided applicants submit all necessary documents.
