The Edo state wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, says the indefinite strike by Public Primary school Heads and Teachers in Edo state which started on the 18th of January 2021 is still very much in Force in all the 18 local government areas of the state and will continue unhindered on Monday 1st February, 2021.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Edo state NUT Chairman, Pius Okhueleigbe, and the State Secretary Mike Moni among others, and made available to the Madia.

The statement reiterated the Union’s earlier resolution to Public Primary school Heads, Teachers, parents, pupils, and the general public to disregard all form of threat, blackmail, intimidation, announcement, pronouncements, and moves from any quarters, which cannot alter the Union’s unshakable determination to actualize the teachers ten points demands from Edo State Government.

They statement further said the union is the least worried by government no work no pay threat issued to the striking teachers.

The statement called on parents of children or wards in public primary Schools in Edo state to keep them at home, pending when the issues in dispute were favorably resolved.

The statement also called on well meaning Nigerians and institutions in Edo State to prevail on the State Government to meet the demands of Teachers instead of resorting to arm – twisting tactics and deploying unproductive shenanigans.
