The Edo State Government has announced the discharge of 20 more Coronavirus patients, who tested negative for the virus and were cleared from the state treatment centres.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, who made this known via his verified Twitter handle, noted that 17 of the patients were discharged from the Stella Obasanjo Hospital Treatment Centre while the facilities at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, and the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, ISTH, discharged 1 and 2 patients respectively.
This brings the total number of discharged Covid-19 patients in the State to 34.
Obaseki also announced the fifth COVID-19 death in the State, attributing the incident to the patient’s inability to promptly report for treatment.
In Zamfara State, no fewer than 18 patients of Coronavirus have been discharged from the Damba Treatment Centre after they tested negative twice since they were taken into care.
The State Chairman of the Covid-19 Task Force who is also the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Nasiru Mu’azu stated this shortly after he recieved the NCDC certification on the affected Covid-19 patients in the State.
Mu’azu says with the 18 discharged Covid-19 patients, the number of active cases in the State has reduced from 73 to 50. He also noted that the State has recorded 5 Coronavirus related deaths.
Meanwhile, Zamfara State will soon have a COVID-19 testing centre. This will address the huge logistical challenge of taking samples to either Sokoto State or Abuja for testing. This will enable the State test more persons for Coronavirus across the local government areas.
The Chairman also said that the State Government has increased the salaries of health workers in order to boost their morale as they put their lives on the line to fight the dreaded virus.

The information was contained in a statement released on Thursday by the State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu who also doubles as the Incident Commander in the fight the against Covid-19 pandemic in the State.
The patients who tested negative for Coronavirus twice before their release include 11 males and 2 females all of whom are Nigerians discharged from the Yaba and Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH treatment facilities.
With this development, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases that have been successfully managed and discharged in Lagos is now 541.
