A Sierra Leonean man, Favour Foday Kamara, has been arraigned over allegations that he diverted money sent by a 70-year-old woman to buy and renovate a property in Lagos.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, arraigned Kamara before the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on two counts of stealing and fraudulent conversion involving 190,324 dollars.
The commission alleges that Henrietta Vandi, a Sierra Leonean based in the United States, sent Kamara the money to purchase and renovate the property on her behalf.
According to the EFCC, Kamara instead acquired the property in his own name. The commission also alleges that he lives there and collects rent from it.
Kamara pleaded not guilty to both counts.
Justice O. A. Okunuga ordered his remand at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre and adjourned the case until October 29, 2026, for further proceedings.
