The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has declared the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello wanted for offences relating to economic and financial crimes.
The information is contained in a notice posted Thursday on the Commission’s official Facebook page. Bello is wanted by the anti-graft agency for offences relating to economic and financial crimes to the tune of N80.2 billion.
The statement asks anyone with useful information on the whereabouts of the immediate past Governor and 2023 Presidential aspirant of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC to report immediately to the Commission or the nearest police station.
The EFCC has sought to arrest Bello in his Abuja residence on Wednesday following a standoff that lasted for about eight hours. He was however whisked away by his successor, Governor Usman Ododo who came to the house while the EFCC operatives laid siege.
In reaction, the EFCC and Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi warned that it is a criminal offence to obstruct its operatives from carrying out their lawful duties.
