The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has handed over recovered assets to the Federal Ministry of Education as part of the Federal Government’s commitment to deploying proceeds of crime for national development.
The assets were recovered during Operation Eagle Flush, the Commission’s largest cybercrime operation, and are expected to improve facilities in federal educational institutions.
The items handed over include 501 double-step bunk beds, 939 mattresses and 12 wooden beds with mattresses.
EFCC Chairman said the assets were duly forfeited to the Federal Government and are being redirected to the education sector in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive that recovered proceeds of crime should benefit Nigerians, particularly children and young people.
Receiving the items, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, said the education sector has benefited more than any other ministry or agency from the Commission’s recoveries.
The Minister assured that the donated items would be effectively deployed to enhance learning and improve students’ welfare.
