The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says it will target youths in its anti-corruption crusade to ensure the sustainability of the campaign.
The acting Chairman of the Commission, Ibrahim Magu, said this in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, as the anti-corruption agency held a sensitization walk across the country.
Represented by the EFCC Director of Organizational Support, Aminu Gusau, the acting Chairman said the walk is to sensitize the youths and other Nigerians on the need to key into the fight against corruption in the country.
At the walk in Kwara State, North-Central Nigeria, the Ilorin Zonal Office of the EFCC said it has recovered both assets and cash worth N8.5 million in the first one year of its operation in the state.
The Zonal Head of the anti-graft agency, Isyaku Sharu, said in addition to the N8.5 million recovered from alleged treasury looters in the state, another N200 million would be handed over to the state government soon hinting that corruption is the major cause of insecurity and unemployment facing the country.
Meanwhile, residents of Awka, the Anambra State capital, South-East Nigeria, woke up to calls from youths to stand up and support the government’s efforts in the fight against corruption.

Speakers at the walk against corruption said that sustainable development cannot be achieved in a society where corrupt practices are allowed to strive.
From the popular Aroma Junction, the group walked through Zik Avenue, Eke Awka Roundabout to the Amawbia Junction.


The current security challenges in Nigeria can be linked to corruption. This was the submission of officials of the EFCC and the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, along with members of civil society during a walk against corruption in Akure, Ondo State capital.
They marched through major streets of Akure sensitizing members of the public on the need to shun corrupt practices.
Both the officials of the EFCC and NYSC want all hands to be on deck to stem the tide of corruption in Nigeria.

The 10 Million-man Walk against Corruption also took place in Adamawa State, North-East Nigeria.
It was organised by the EFCC in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, as well as the NYSC.


Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who flagged off the walk, described corruption as a cankerworm that has eaten deep into the country’s fabric of progress and development.
He said that his administration will not relent to fight the menace in the state.
The walk in the state took off from the Federal Secretariat and ended at the Government House Yola.
