The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has secured the conviction and sentencing of a Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, staff member, Kinsley Eselebor, to 25 years in jail for land fraud and the use of forged documents.
Justice A.O. Musa of the FCT High Court, Abuja, convicted Eselebor on five counts involving the defrauding of Moses Osinachi over the sale of two plots of land in Kubwa, Abuja.
The court sentenced him to seven years each on three counts and two years each on the remaining two counts, with all sentences to run concurrently and without an option of fine.
The EFCC said the victim discovered the fraud when he attempted to take possession of the properties and found that the convict had no valid title to transfer.
Reacting to the judgement, EFCC prosecution counsel, Joshua Saidi, described the conviction as a deterrent to land racketeering and the use of forged documents to defraud unsuspecting property buyers.
