Ahead of the Eid El Adha celebration, the Niger State Police Command says it has deployed Anti-riot water canons, gun trucks, and patrol vehicles and ensure adequate deployment of Police personnel for visibility policing, show of force and observation points at all entry and exit of the State for water-tight security arrangements before, during and after the festivity.

In a statement by the spokesman of the police, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Danmamman also directed Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to adopt proactiveness through intelligence gathering and raid of blackspots within their areas of responsibility, towards ensuring a seamless and peaceful Sallah celebration.

In addition, CP Danmamman also directed Tactical Commanders to ensure sufficient deployment of tactical teams such as the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Explosive Ordinance Disposal – Chemical Biological Radiological & Nuclear, Tactical Support Team and Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command to Eid grounds, recreation centres, amusement parks and other strategic public places in the State.

The statement further added that an Operation Order has been issued to Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and DPOs of their specific responsibility to provide reliable security coverage and ensure free flow of traffic at every assigned Eid ground, with thorough supervision of men deployed in accordance to the Standard Operating Procedures.

The Command warned members of the public, parents and guardians to ensure a firm grip of their wards, as the Police and other security agencies will not tolerate acts of thuggery and youths disorder during and after the festive period.

The statement therefore added that anyone found fomenting trouble will be dealt with following the law, as the CP encourages all to celebrate responsibly.
