Delta State Governor and Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ifeanyi Okowa has congratulated Nigerian Muslims as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir and urged them to emulate the Holy Prophet Mohammed by imbibing the ideals of sacrifice examplified by him.

The Governor in his goodwill message said this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration holding amid rising insecurity and economic challenges calls for deep retrospection among citizens, especially considering the enormity of lives and property being lost on a daily basis across the country.

In Rivers State, the Governor, Nyesom Wike, has sued for peace in the country to enhance stability and growth. He gave the advise in a message congratulating Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Governor Wike prayed for peace and wisdom in solving the challenges facing the nation, especially the insecurity, and urged all Muslim faithful in his state to remain peaceful as they join their counterparts all over the world to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

He assured that the Rivers State Government will continue to protect the rights of every citizen in the State and also guarantee the freedom of worship and association as enshrined in the constitution.

While felicitating with the Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el Kabir celebration, Enugu Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi prayed for God’s boundless grace and favour upon the country, noting that the solemn festival of Eid-el Kabir is anchored on love and sacrifice.

He urges the Muslim community to use the occasion of the 2022 Sallah festivities, to re-dedicate themselves to God and continue to pray for peace, unity, security and progress of Nigeria

Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has called on Muslims in the country to pray against the unabating security challenges in the country, saying that the deteriorating situation arguably demands divine intervention.

His call is contained in a goodwill message to Nigerians to commemorate this year’s Eid-el Kabir celebration signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur.

The Governor said it is an understatement to submit that the country is overwhelmed by security challenges. He sighted the recent terrorists attack on Kuje Medium Security Custodial Centre and the attack on President Muhammadu Buhari’s convoy as “a national embarrassment.”

Ortom however lamented that his ceaseless calls on the Federal Government to rise up to its responsibility by providing security for the citizens have felled on deaf ears over the years.

He however expressed optimism that hope is not lost if all hands can be on deck to honestly address the challenges.

And the Acting Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu has felicitated with Muslim faithful on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration as Nigeria passes through difficult times which require the prayers and sacrifices of both the leaders and people for the country to overcome her present challenges.

The Acting Governor reiterated that the level of insecurity in Nigeria has assumed a worrisome dimension and added that as a people bound by one destiny; the virtues of love, unity and peaceful co-existence as commanded by Allah must be the watchword.

Shaibu affirmed that irrespective of ethnic or religious divide, leaders and indeed patriotic citizens must refrain from making inflammatory statements or exhibit tendencies capable of driving a wedge between people.
