At least eight people have been reportedly killed after gunmen opened fire on a passenger bus at Dungus Junction in Kuru, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, in a late-night attack that also left several others injured.
The incident occurred at about 9:30 p.m. when the bus, reportedly travelling to Jos, stopped at the junction to drop off passengers.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants opened fire on the vehicle, killing eight passengers and injuring several others.
The Plateau State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
However, the Plateau State Government has confirmed the attack through the Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap.

Ramnap described the incident as deeply disturbing and appealed to residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies.
She also urged members of the affected communities to resist the temptation to embark on reprisal attacks, stressing the need to maintain peace and prevent further loss of lives.
The attack comes amid renewed violence in parts of Mangu Local Government Area, where fresh attacks on communities on Saturday reportedly left an unverified number of people dead and several others injured.
