Electricity distribution companies increase tariff despite contrary claims

There are indications that Electricity Distribution Companies in Nigeria have implemented the two Naira increase in tariff after denying planned hike that was earlier scheduled to take effect from September 1

Investigation by ait.live shows that vendors now sell at an increased rate, in Abuja for instance Band A which was 49.75 per unit which was 18.7 units at 1000 naira now sells for 51.75 per unit, 18units for 1000 naira. A vendor who spoke on condition of anonymity showed his new tarrif rate as indicated on the table.

The Nigeria Electricity Regulatory agency is yet to comment on the issue of Tariff since the news started making the rounds late August.
