Electricity workers in Kano State have staged peaceful protests to demand full payment of forty-eight-month arrears, transfer allowances, and confirmation of eligible staff.
Entrances to the kano distributions company KEDCO was also placed under lock by the striking workers. The strike grounded activities at the headquarters of the distribution company and other substation within the state.

Management and some staff who resumed work were denied access to the premises.

Zonal Organising Secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees, Bukar Barde said they came out to express their grievances on how the staff of the company is being maltreated.

The union leaders said they have reached several agreement with the management of KEDCO on staffs welfare but the latter fail to fulfil the agreements.

The workers threatened to shutdown power in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States if their demands are not urgently addressed.
