Former Nigerian Military President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida is 80 years old Today August 17, 2021.
Tributes have been pouring in from across the country since last week as the former Military President celebrates his birthday today.
Born on August 17, 1941, Babangida ruled Nigeria from 1985 to 1993.
Nicknamed ‘Maradona’, he stepped aside shortly after annulling the June 12, 1993 presidential election presumed to have been won by late business mogul Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, MKO.
Among those who have showered encomiums on the Niger state born politician are President Muhammadu Buhari, former heads of states General Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo, General Abdulsalami Abubakar and Ernest Shonekan, serving governors, diplomats, and leaders in the business community among others.

Some of the former leaders and top politicians had gathered in Abuja Last week Thursday for a legacy Dialogue to celebrate IBB whom they described as a selfless, detribalized Nigerian.
Founder of Daar Communications Plc, Raymond Dokpesi also hailed the octogenarian as a true nationalist. He described his administration as the most ethnically diverse, who assembled the best from every part of the country
High-profile visitors also thronged his hilltop mansion in Minna this Tuesday to pay homage to the celebrant.
