ENDSARS: Lagos Judicial panel resumes sitting

The Lagos state judicial panel on restitution for victims of SARS abuses and other related matters, resumed sitting ahead on Friday.

The panel gave recommendations on thirty-four petitions brought before it.

The panel considered the 34 cases brought by the various petitioners who had gone through the court process over the violations of their fundamental human rights and judgement delivered in their favour.

The chairman, Lekki panel of inquiry Justice Doris Okuwobi read the decisions reached by members on each case. Some petitions were thrown out for lack of merit.

Justice Okuwobi in dealing with the monetary compensations as contained in the judgements delivered by the various courts against the police, referred the National Assembly to section 8 4(2) of the Sherrif and civil process Act 2004 to ease the frustrations of the petitioners who have been awarded monetary compensations by the courts get paid.

The recommendations reached at the end of the sitting by the Justice Okuwobi led panel of inquiry, will be forwarded to the federal government through the Lagos state government .
