In the re-run election for Igboeze North/Udenu Federal constituency held in Enugu State on February 3rd, 2024, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Simon Atigwe, has emerged as the winner.

The Returning Officer for the election, Associate Professor Nwachukwu Obiakor, declared the results early Sunday morning.

Atigwe secured victory with 23,863 votes, defeating Dennis Agbo of the Labour Party, who garnered 23,226 votes.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Obiageli Ajih, trailed in third place with 1,812 votes.

This repeat election, conducted across 24 Registration Areas and 166 Polling Units, was prompted by the nullification of the February 2023 election result by the Court of Appeal, in which INEC had declared the Labour Party candidate winner of the initial poll.

The Court had held that the absence of the APC candidate’s Party logo on the result sheet was deemed a violation of the Electoral Act, leading to the order for a rerun.
