This repeat election, conducted across 24 Registration Areas and 166 Polling Units, was prompted by the nullification of the February 2023 election result by the Court of Appeal, in which INEC had declared the Labour Party candidate winner of the initial poll.
The Court had held that the absence of the APC candidate’s Party logo on the result sheet was deemed a violation of the Electoral Act, leading to the order for a rerun.
