Nigeria’s premier private television broadcast channel, Africa Independent Television (AIT), will on Saturday, 30th May, 2026 produce and broadcast Live the 11th edition of the World Athletics Gold Label Okpekpe International 10-kilometre Road Race.

As anticipation builds ahead of Nigeria’s most prestigious road race, official reports have it that AIT’s production crew are already on ground in Okpekpe Community, Edo State, to conclude technical preparations for what promises to be another world-class sporting spectacle.

Organisers of the international competition are not only promising the best race experience yet, but are also assuring athletes, officials, tourists, and residents of maximum security and safety throughout the event.

The quiet hills of Okpekpe have once again come alive with excitement as final preparations intensify for the 11th World Athletics Gold Label Okpekpe 10-kilometre Road Race.

For Africa Independent Television (AIT), preparations are equally in top gear. The technical teams, outside broadcast engineers, camera operators, producers, and logistics personnel are on top of their beats to ensure seamless Live coverage of the internationally acclaimed event.

The Live broadcast will feature multiple camera positions along the race route, aerial coverage, athlete tracking, instant race updates, expert analysis, and exclusive interviews designed to bring viewers across Nigeria and beyond closer to every moment of the competition.

Assurance are coming from the Organisers that the 2026 edition will not only raise the bar in sporting excellence, but will also strengthen the race’s reputation as one of Africa’s premier road-running events.

Security agencies, including the Police, Civil Defence Corps, Road Safety officials, and local vigilante groups, have been strategically deployed across the community and race corridors to guarantee a peaceful and incident-free competition.

Medical response teams and emergency service providers are also on standby, while traffic management measures have been put in place to ensure smooth movement for residents and visitors.

Beyond athletics, the race is already generating significant economic activity within Okpekpe and neighbouring communities.

With excitement building steadily, all eyes now turn to Saturday’s showdown where elite athletes from across the world will compete for glory in what promises to be another thrilling chapter in the history of the Okpekpe Road Race.
